International Standard Serial Number - ISSN

I think we all know that most of the published books have a ISBN (International Standard Book Numbering) number, there is also a numbering system for online publications.

This is managed by ISSN (International Standard Serial Number), it is eight digit number which identifies periodic publications. This also can be used for printed publications, CD ROMs or floppy disks.
ISSN are assigned since the 1970s and universally accepted within the print publishing world as a means of identifying the serials.

Note that ISSN assignment is free of charge !
